Have you ever wondered what kind of material is used in the dental implants used during the All-on-4® treatment? They’re made up of three parts:
The Implant
That is the screw that is attached to the jawbone and acts as the root of the tooth. It provides the tooth with support and stability. It is made of titanium or zirconia.
Abutment
It is the piece that connects the new tooth to the screw (implant).
Crown
It is also called the prosthetic tooth. It is the tooth that everyone sees. It is made from zirconium or porcelain.

Materials Used to Make All-on-4® Dental Implants
Implants
Titanium implants
These implants are made of durable titanium. Titanium is strong and resists cracks and fractures. The titanium implants are easy to place since they have two parts; the base and the tooth restoration. After they are placed, the dentist has more flexibility when placing the abutment. In addition, it gives your dentist the ability to alter the tooth angle, meaning you will get a natural bite alignment.
Zirconia implants
These types of implants are ceramic. They are an option if you don't want to have metallic implants. Their advantages include zero risks for metal allergy and less plaque and infection around the implant site as the soft tissue responds better to the nonmetal element.
Both the titanium and zirconia implants are safe.
The Crown
The crown can be made from acrylic, porcelain or zirconia.
Acrylic
The material is best for people who do not clench or grind their teeth. It is a cheaper option and easy to fix. It has a softer bite and looks so natural.
Porcelain
The material lasts longer and looks suitable for a very long time. They can be expensive but worth it. Porcelain requires a skilled and experienced professional to ensure the best results.
Zirconia
The material is solid and durable. It is less likely to get damaged. When well set by a skilled dental professional, they look so beautiful.
