Mini LED striping light are a new and versatile form of lighting. There are many variants and exceptions, but in most cases, they have the following characteristics:

-Consists of many individual LED emitters mounted on a narrow and flexible circuit board

- Operates with low-voltage DC power

- Available in a variety of fixed and variable colors and brightness

- Ships on long rolls (usually 16ft/5m) that can be cut to length and include double-sided tape for installation

The brightness of the mini LED strip is determined using metric lumens. Unlike incandescent bulbs, different LED strips can have different levels of efficiency, so power ratings are not always meaningful when determining actual light output.

LED strip brightness is usually expressed in lumens per foot (or meter). A good quality LED strip should provide at least 450 lumens per foot (1500 lumens per meter), which provides about the same amount of light output per foot as conventional T8 fluorescent lamps. (eg 4ft T8 fluorescent = 4ft LED strip = 1800 lumens).

The brightness of LED strips is mainly determined by three factors:

Light output and efficiency of each LED emitter

1) Number of LEDs per foot

2) Power consumption per foot of LED strip

3) LED strips without lumen brightness specs are a red flag. You also need to watch out for low-cost LED strips that claim high brightness, as they can overdrive the LEDs to the point of premature failure.
