It is not surprising that Brazilians are in love with the Maldives. When we are dealing with a disease outbreak such as Covid-19, this set of paradisiacal islands is one of the few countries that is allowing Brazilians to enter. Then it's only natural you'd wonder how much does it cost to visit the Maldives, is it expensive? Finally, how do you get there? You'll find all the answers in this post.

However, before I proceed with the main subject of this post, the cost of traveling to the Maldives, I would like to provide you with some important information.

HOW TO GET TO MALDIVES

Located in the Indian Ocean, the group of islands is close to Sri Lanka. From So Paulo, you can fly with Qatar Airways to Doha, Qatar, and then fly to the Maldives. The Airbus A350-1000 is currently used on 10 weekly flights that leave So Paulo.

CAN BRAZILIANS ENTER THE MALDIVES?

A negative PCR test must be presented within 96 hours of departure in order to be able to enter one of the few countries that allow people from Brazil to enter. It is also important to note that the airline requires the test at check-in. Passengers must repeat the test if they have transited in another country for more than 24 hours. It is required that the test result be in English, with the passenger's name appearing on the passport, along with the laboratory's name and address.

Airfare

A few months from now, you can find good deals on air travel on this trip. In a quick search, I found round trip tickets from S*o Paulo to Malé – the capital of the Maldives – for BRL 5,800 flying with Qatar Airways and BRL 10,200 flying with Emirates. Both flights are in economy class.

Qatar prices are average, but these tickets are available for as little as R$3,500, which is a great deal for such a long flight.

• An option not to be missed is the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma, which has bungalows overlooking the ocean and daily rates starting at R$1,500.

Luxury but without getting poorer

• There are those wonderful bungalows in the sea at Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, which have daily rates starting at R$2,900 with a lot of perks included.
• It offers incredible bungalows by the sea on a private island starting at R$3,200, making it one of the nicest hotels in the Maldives.
• The Vakkaru Maldives is one of the most luxurious resorts with all the amenities you could wish for. It offers overwater bungalows as well as chalets with private pools starting from R$5,200 per day.

Food

There are several restaurants in most Maldives hotels to avoid monotony, and some rates are all-inclusive. However, you can eat in a starred restaurant from R$200, or a good meal from R$80.

Tours to deserted islands on the Maldives can be booked directly at the hotels at a cost of R$160. Diving in the corals or diving with whales and sharks can be hired at a cost of R$500.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO TRAVEL TO THE MALDIVES FOR A WEEK

• Total : 7,500 R$ (ticket + accommodation) + 1,100 R$ (food) + 800 R$ (tours).
• A comfortable trip costs R$ 11,400 (ticket and accommodation) plus R$ 2,000 (food) and 1,200 (tours).
• There will be a total of 35,900 R$ for luxury travel, consisting of R$ 31,900 (ticket + accommodation) + R$ 2,500 (food) + R$ 1,500 (tours).
