  Maintainable VS maintenance-free

When choosing batteries for vehicles, boats, lawnmowers, or motorcycles, you may be faced with the decision to choose between maintainable or Sealed Deep Cycle Batteries. But what is the difference-why would you choose one?

Maintainability and Sealed Deep Cycle Battery are very similar in many ways they are both filled with electrolytes and have basically the same function. However, you should keep some key differences in mind.

  Maintainable battery benefits

As the name suggests, the maintainable battery has a removable cover that allows you to visually check the electrolyte level in each battery. The service life of the battery can be prolonged by regularly checking the electrolyte level, and demineralized water can be added if necessary. Depending on the Sealed AGM Battery, the electrolyte level should be checked at least once a year.

This loss of electrolyte may be caused by overcharging, exposure to heat, and most importantly, evaporation, which occurs faster than a sealed, maintenance-free battery.

  Benefits of maintenance-free batteries

Maintenance-free, In contrast, maintenance-free batteries are sealed and stored at the factory and do not need to maintain the electrolyte level. The biggest advantage of the sealed design is that it does not require any maintenance except to ensure that the battery is kept clean and fully charged.

The electrolyte loss rate of maintenance-free batteries is much slower than that of maintainable models, so it is expected to extend battery life.
