Body

Saddle stitching, also known as saddle stitching, refers to a method of book binding. The action is like straddling a horseback, that is, after a thin book (with the cover less than 6 posts) is wrapped, it is straddled on the iron frame to press the iron thread nails.

Saddle nails usually refer to "iron wire flat nails", and they are not pre-made staples. During the production process, the machine cuts a section from the coiled metal wire, nails it into the paper, and Bend the iron wire on the other side of the paper and fix it.

Process characteristics:

The internal part of the book is not stapled into the book core in advance, but is combined with the cover and then the entire book is stapled and cut together. The finished books and periodicals are saddled with saddle stitches. The front and bottom seals of the front cover are exactly the same size and neat as the pages of the book core, while the spine is narrow and arc-shaped, and the iron wire used for the book is obviously exposed, so Cannot print text.

Pros and cons:

Saddle stitch binding has a short binding cycle and low cost, but the binding firmness is poor, and the iron wire used is difficult to penetrate thick paper. Therefore, books and periodicals with more than 32 pages (64 pages) are not suitable for saddle stitching. Note: The P number of the saddle stitch source file must be a multiple of 4, otherwise there will be blanks in the text.

Binding process:

The first post page is placed at the front of the binding machine, the first one falls on the chain; the other posts are stacked on it one by one, the cover falls on the last, and then the nails are nailed; and then sent to the cutter part at the end of the binding machine , Cut the bound booklet into a book on three sides, and send it out of the binding machine with a conveyor belt, and pack it for delivery.

Characteristic:

Because the finished book has a thickness, when the side of the page turning (i.e. turning) is finally trimmed, the two sides of the saddle are closed together, and the edges are trimmed flatly. After trimming the outermost page and the middle page, It looks the same size on the outside, but because the middle page is squeezed out by half the thickness of the booklet, it is more trimmed and cut off. When measuring the left and right dimensions, you will find that it is smaller than the cover. With this feature, you should pay attention to it when making black and white finished drafts.
