Some players may find it worthwhile, while others may consider it to be a complete waste of time.

What is the best way to transfer my old character over to Diablo 2 Resurrection?
The following is how to transfer your old Diablo 2 characters to Diablo 2 Resurrected Items PS4 if you're a PC player who isn't afraid of taking on the legions of hell by yourself:

You should transfer the files from your old Diablo 2 character's hard drive to the PC where you are currently playing Diablo 2 Resurrection.
If you already have the original Diablo 2 installed, go to Local Disk (C:) > Users > (Players' username) > Saved Games and select the game you wish to restore.
The character files that have the extension. ds after their names will be displayed. The file you want to copy can be moved to your desktop.
From here, navigate to your D2R Items Xbox Series folder and copy/paste the file into your character folder to complete the installation. The process is nearly identical to the one used in the original Diablo II game.
In buy D2R Runewords, the old character should now appear after it has been pasted or transferred into the appropriate folder. To select your Offline characters, navigate to your Offline characters folder.

Tips for transferring your old Diablo 2 character to a new one.
In order for this to work, you must already have a character created and saved in your buy Diablo 2 resurrected Runewords folder. If this is not the case, the game will not have created the folder yet, making a transfer impossibly complicated.

They will bring all of their items (including high-value legendary items and runes), skills, and stash contents with them to the new location. They will behave exactly as they did in the original game. To customize your skills and stats, you can even visit Akara to do so.

That old characters can't be transferred to the console versions of the game is a shame. However, Blizzard's justifications for keeping them offline are understandable in this case. Nobody wants to compete against characters who have been unfairly leveled and hacked, especially when the game is already plagued by issues.
