They loved the flexibility

If the Zoom Span line was Nike’s entry-level Nike Roshe Run Damen shoe, the Winflo would be training wheels for the Span. It’s a no-frills shoe that won’t turn a lot of heads—it doesn’t have a carbon-fiber plate or paper-thin upper like pricier models. Instead, you’ll find a lacing system that does just enough to hold the foot in place and Nike’s tried-and-true Cushlon foam with Zoom Air adding reliable cushioning. Testers praised the Winflo as the total package. “The Winflo 5 exceeded my expectations. A great dynamic between lightweight and good support while still looking stylish,” said one female tester.

Despite the minimal design, the shoe Nike Roshe Run Damen Schwarz is ready to take on any speed, terrain, or condition you can throw at it. Like the Zoom Span, it will provide a reliable ride for speed work and long runs—not a characteristic often had for $90. The Winflo’s exposed rubber outsole performed well on hills, dirt trails, and slippery wooden bridges, though testers were left wanting more water resistance.

Much like standard versions of the Nike Free 5.0 Damen Schwarz Pegasus, the Winflo has a midsole made up of Cushlon foam and Zoom Air units. That winning combo keeps the shoe light— RW Shoe Lab tests found the women’s version of the Winflo to be a full ounce lighter than the Pegasus 35. The result is a cushioned ride that may not feel as bouncy as Nike’s React foam but will still be enough for a hilly 12-miler. In fact, Shoe Lab tests found the heel cushioning to be as soft as the beefier Hoka One One shoes.

The Cushlon foam may not appear as durable Nike Free 5.0 Herren as other foams, with visible creasing appearing after just a few miles, but it held up for well over 100 miles of wear-testing. Testers appreciated the shoe's versatility. “It is a shoe you can run in and walk around in without them feeling uncomfortable,” said one tester. A rubber rail along the outside of the foot provides enough a smooth landing for neutral runners, though runners wanting a more traditional stability shoe may have to look elsewhere, say our test team.
