1) National Highway 3 and National Highway 5

This is the best route to cover the 270 km of Shimla to Manali Distance and it takes around 7 to 8 hours to complete the journey. You will get to pass nearby towns like Narkanda and Rampur Bushahr which gives you a scenic view with snow-capped mountains, apple groves and dense forests. The roads are well-connected to each other and provide a smooth and comfortable journey.

2) Shimla to Manali through Kullu

The second best route is by kullu. The total distance covered by this route is approx. 280 km longer and it takes about 8 to 9 hours. It is suitable for road travelers who desire a longer drive and observe more scenic locations. The route goes through Kullu where tourists can make a halt to experience river rafting, bazaars and witnessing the Beas River on the way to Manali.
